“Like Netanya! 2014”
Back in October 2013 a group of selected Israeli Junior High School Students arrived at the Magic English Center in Netanya. The challenge was to produce - together with the volunteers from ESRA Netanya - a second issue of “Like Netanya! - AND HERE IT IS!
It was obvious right from the start of the project that it was going to be fun. Not only were these students full of great ideas but they possessed the ability to research their topic and combine it with their endless knowledge. At the beginning and end of each weekly session the group had an opportunity to discuss their progress with their articles. Humorous, emotive, factual are all attributes that create the quality of “Like Netanya! 2014". We really hope you enjoy it and will forward it across the social media facility to all your friends.
My first impressions were that here was a group of youngsters who will have a great influence on society. They each have the ability in their own right to be leaders. The group has never ceased to amaze me in the way they relate with such warmth and enthusiasm to the creation of this Magazine and also how respectful and appreciative they have been for any assistance we have provided. They have given the ESRA volunteers an insight into their experiences and values which in turn has taught us that we have so much to learn from these exceptional young people.
So much effort has gone into running this project and we would like to thank Elaine Jacobs, Project Co-ordinator, for her invaluable leadership of the Project. Also our sincere appreciation goes to Nina Zuck, Head of Projects at ESRA, together with Shachar Elraz, Inbal Cohen and Miri for giving ESRA Netanya the opportunity to be part of this incredible Center.
Last but not least I would like to say a personal thank you to all the ESRA Volunteers who have committed themselves to continuously being at the Center on Monday evenings, and to Graham, a new ESRA volunteer and computer whizz who produced the finished website “likenetanya2014.weebly.com”
